From Reality to Make Believe
Work from photographer Patricia Barry Levy’s PrairieDreams series will be included as part of a group show in conjunction with Denver’s Month of Photography.
Opening Friday, March 4, 2011 from 4:30 to 7:30 PM
Real places and real things are transformed into the make believe, and used to tell imaginative stories. The whimsical narratives are inspired by the plains, grasslands and ranches that spread east from Denver. Levy makes regular visits to gather the landscapes, skies, and special elements that are blended with her studio photos and scans. The resulting new images take on another life of metaphor and visual intrigue.
About the three pieces on display, Levy says “Besides showing the work, I’m excited to have come up with a new way of displaying it that makes for an immediate, rich connection – hint, no glass!”
